One mattress of any size, from a single to a king, is £25 inc VAT collected from the room it sits in. Each additional mattress on the same visit is £10, so two mattresses are £35 and three are £45. Cot, bunk and zip-and-link mattresses count the same way, and toppers travel with the mattress they belong to.
If the mattress is part of a bigger clear-out, it can be added to any load at the £10 additional rate rather than booked on its own. Bed frames and divan bases are furniture items at £40 for one or £50 for two, with light dismantling included. There are no hidden extras for stairs or carrying, and the office confirms the total before the crew is booked.
In practice, no. Mattresses are not covered by the rules on upholstered seating, but they are awkward to compact and most transfer stations and skip firms either refuse them or add a surcharge, which is why skip hire terms so often say no mattresses. Our own skip bags exclude them for the same reason.
The straightforward route is to have the mattress collected separately. On a van it is loaded apart from the rest of the waste and taken to a licensed facility that handles mattresses specifically, where the springs and fillings are separated. If you are hiring a skip from us for a wider project, the office will simply add a mattress collection to the same booking.
Neath Port Talbot Council includes mattresses in its bulky items collection at £29.50 for up to seven items, and Swansea Council charges £24 for one to three items or £48 for four to six. Both are kerbside services booked and paid in advance: the mattress goes outside the night before, kept dry, and the crew does not come into the house. The Neath Port Talbot service is for residents only, not landlords.
Our mattress removal is £25 inc VAT and the crew carries it down from the bedroom, which for a king-size on the top floor of a terrace is the whole point. We aim to collect within 48 hours of booking, work with landlords and letting agents, and can provide a waste transfer note as a registered waste carrier with Natural Resources Wales. For several mattresses from a house in multiple occupation, the £10 additional rate keeps the total sensible.
