If you are the executor or administrator of an estate, the house is often the last and largest thing to deal with. We are not solicitors and will not tell you when a property may be cleared; that comes from the solicitor handling the estate. What we can do is work to whatever date you are given, provide a written inc VAT quote in advance so the cost can be recorded against the estate, and issue the paperwork afterwards.
Before anything leaves, the crew walks the house with you, or with your list if you cannot attend, and sets aside anything that looks personal, documentary or valuable: paperwork, photographs, jewellery, cash, keys and anything the family has asked us to find. Those items are handed to you or the solicitor, never assumed to be waste.
Much of this work comes to us through solicitors and estate agents across Neath, Port Talbot and Swansea who need a property emptied before it can be valued, marketed or completed. Keys are collected from and returned to the office that holds them, with a call before and after each visit, and the property is left clean, with carpets and curtains removed if the sale requires it.
Quotes are written, itemised where an estate needs them, and confirmed inc VAT before we start. Where a firm sends us regular instructions, the same crew and the same paperwork every time keeps it simple.
A council or housing association tenancy usually has to be handed back within a set period after the tenant has died, and the housing officer will want the property empty and clean. We work to that date, clear the home in one visit or across several as the family needs, and can liaise with the housing office directly over keys and access.
Reusable furniture and effects are separated for reuse where condition allows; if the family would like particular pieces to go to a named charity, tell the office and we will arrange it where the charity can accept them. Everything else is recycled or disposed of properly, with a waste transfer note for the file.
