We bring skip hire, skip bags, wheelie bins and man and van rubbish removal from £25 inc VAT to Aberdare and the Cynon Valley, which lies further up the valleys from our Neath yard and is served by arrangement. Vale Waste Neath is a family-run, registered waste carrier, and we aim to collect within 48 hours of booking wherever the route allows.
Aberdare is the main town of the Cynon Valley and sits in Rhondda Cynon Taf, not Neath Port Talbot, so the council rules on this page differ from the ones we work to at home. The CF44 postcode district takes in the town itself along with Aberaman, Cwmbach, Trecynon, Cwmdare, Llwydcoed, Penywaun and Hirwaun, and the built-up area was home to a little under 38,000 people at the 2021 census. It is further up the valleys than our usual rounds, so we cover it by arrangement: tell us the job and the address, and we will confirm a slot that fits the route.
The services are the same ones we run everywhere else. Man and van rubbish removal from £25 inc VAT, where our crew does the lifting and loading; 4, 6 and 8 yard skips for renovation, garden and building waste; skip bags for the terraced streets where a skip will not fit; and 240, 660 and 1100 litre wheelie bins with scheduled collections for businesses. House clearance and garden clearance are the two jobs we are asked about most often in the Cynon Valley, and both are priced by the load rather than by the hour.
Everything we collect goes to licensed disposal and recycling facilities, and every job comes with the duty of care paperwork you would expect from a registered waste carrier.
We deliver three skip sizes to Aberdare. A 4 yard skip holds 40 to 50 bin bags and suits a small clearance, a garden project or a house with tight access. A 6 yard skip holds 60 to 70 bin bags and is the usual choice for a bathroom or kitchen refit, and an 8 yard skip holds 70 to 80 bin bags for bigger renovations and bulky waste. Skip hire is quoted by the team on size, placement and how long you need it.
A skip on your own drive or forecourt needs no permission from anyone. A skip on the public road needs a highway skip permit from Rhondda Cynon Taf Council, and because the permit fee has not been confirmed to us we would rather you check the council website for the current fee than quote a figure that may be out of date. We can advise on the process when we confirm the hire. Aberdare's narrow terraced streets with on-street parking are often a poor fit for a road skip in any case, which is why so many local customers choose a skip bag or a man and van collection instead.
A few things cannot go in a skip: fridges and freezers, mattresses, upholstered seating, tyres, paint and other hazardous waste. Plasterboard is kept separate. Tell us what you are clearing and we will suggest the compliant route for anything on that list.
Man and van is our load and go service: two of us arrive, carry the waste out from wherever it is, load the van and sweep up. Prices include VAT and are set by the volume we take away. A mattress on its own is £25, a single item such as a small sofa or an appliance is £40, two items are £50 and a fridge on its own is £40. Loose loads run from a 2 yard load at £50, roughly 20 bin bags, up to a 14 yard load at £220, which is about a small house or flat clearance. If the load comes in smaller on the day, you pay the smaller figure.
Rhondda Cynon Taf's own bulky item collection is £24 for up to three items, booked ahead, with the items left at your usual bin point between 7pm the night before and 7am on the day. It does not take building or DIY waste such as rubble, plasterboard, bathroom suites or kitchen units, and it does not take hazardous items, tyres or trade waste. For three light items on the kerb it is good value. For anything mixed, anything heavy, anything that needs carrying down from a flat above a shop on Commercial Street or Cardiff Street, or anything that has to go this week, a private collection is the simpler option.
We take sofas, fridges, mattresses, white goods, garden waste and renovation rubbish in the same load, and we do the lifting. Nothing is paid online: we confirm the price with you before the van sets off.
A skip bag is the terrace-friendly option. We deliver a heavy duty bag, you fill it at your own pace, and we collect it once it is full. A small bag is £65 inc VAT and takes a small declutter or DIY project; a medium bag is £95 inc VAT and takes a small bathroom rip-out or a garage clear-out. A bag needs no council permit, sits on a drive, forecourt or yard, and takes up far less room than a skip.
That matters in Aberdare more than in most towns. In the Aberdare and Abernant community profile close to two thirds of homes are terraced, against a Welsh average of under three in ten, and a great many of those have no drive at all. A bag on the forecourt or in the back yard avoids the road permit question entirely, and if there is genuinely nowhere to put one, our man and van crew will carry the waste straight out of the house.
Bags cannot take hardcore or soil, mattresses, tyres or fridges. For rubble from a valley-side garden wall or a lifted patio, ask us about a skip instead.
The nearest household recycling centre to Aberdare is Ty Amgen Community Recycling Centre at Llwydcoed, CF44 0BX, run by Amgen Cymru on the same site as the wider Bryn Pica waste facility. It opened in 2011 as the replacement for the old Bryn Pica household site. Hours are seasonal: 8.30am to 6.30pm from April to October and 8.30am to 4.30pm from October to March, seven days a week, closed on the Christmas and New Year bank holidays. It takes household waste only, no trade waste, and vans must be booked in advance, so check the council website before you set off.
Between the tip and the £24 bulky item collection, the council covers the everyday cases well. What it does not cover is where we come in: mixed loads of household and DIY waste, rubble and plasterboard, anything from a business, anything that needs carrying rather than being left at the kerb, and anything that will not wait for a booked council date. We do not tip at Ty Amgen or Bryn Pica; our loads go to licensed transfer and recycling facilities under our own registration.
If you are a landlord, a letting agent or a trader working in Aberdare, the council services are not available to you at all, and a registered carrier is the only lawful route for the waste.
Aberdare's housing is older than almost anywhere we cover. In the Aberdare and Abernant profile area around three quarters of homes were built before 1939, and only a couple of hundred have been added since 2000. Victorian and Edwardian miners' terraces along the valley floor mean lofts, cellars, outhouses and sheds that have held decades of accumulation, which is what makes a probate or downsizing clearance here a bigger job than the square footage suggests.
We handle full and part house clearances across the town: probate and bereavement clearances, end of tenancy clear-outs, flats above the shops on Commercial Street and Cardiff Street, and the change-over between tenants in the small number of shared houses around Trecynon. We sort what can be reused, load the rest and leave the property broom clean, with a waste transfer note at the end.
Garden clearance follows the ground. Plots around Abernant and Cwmdare climb the valley sides, so hedge cuttings, old sheds, fencing and turf tend to come out in stages and by hand. Dare Valley Country Park at Cwmdare and Aberdare Park at Trecynon show how green the town is; the back gardens just need a crew that will carry.
Trade waste cannot go to Ty Amgen, so Aberdare businesses need a registered waste carrier whether they produce a bag a week or a van load a month. We supply 240, 660 and 1100 litre wheelie bins with weekly, fortnightly or monthly collections, and we run one-off clearances for shop refits, office moves and unit clear-outs.
The town's commercial addresses are spread out. Hirwaun Industrial Estate is allocated for industrial and storage use in the county's development plan, Robertstown and Abernant carry the older industrial estate along Wellington Street alongside the Coleg y Cymoedd campus that opened there in 2017, and the town centre shops and cafes sit along Commercial Street and Cardiff Street with Riverside Retail Park about a mile and a half to the south. Our route from Jersey Marine follows the A465 north-east past Resolven and Glynneath, over the Rhigos section to the Hirwaun interchange, then the A4059 south into Aberdare.
