Skip hire, man and van rubbish removal from £25 inc VAT, skip bags and wheelie bin hire for Gorseinon, Loughor, Penllergaer and the SA4 villages, about 20 minutes from our yard at Jersey Marine along the M4. We are a registered waste carrier and we aim to collect within 48 hours of booking.
Gorseinon is a town of family homes: older terraced streets around the historic centre, post-war semis in Penyrheol and Kingsbridge, and new estates at Cwrt Y Brenin and Garden Village. There is no student quarter here and no dense cluster of shared houses, so the work we do in SA4 is downsizing and probate clearances, loft and garage clear-outs, sofas and mattresses that will not go in the car, and garden waste from new-build plots being landscaped for the first time.
We cover all of it with four services. Man and van rubbish removal from £25 inc VAT, loaded by us from wherever the items are; 4, 6 and 8 yard skip hire for renovation and building waste; skip bags from £65 inc VAT for driveways and small plots; and 240, 660 and 1100 litre wheelie bin hire for the units on Garngoch Industrial Estate and the shops along High Street. Every price includes VAT and is agreed before we start.
We deliver 4, 6 and 8 yard skips throughout Gorseinon, Penyrheol, Kingsbridge, Loughor and Penllergaer. A 4 yard skip holds roughly 40 to 50 bin bags and suits a bathroom strip-out or a garden project. A 6 yard skip takes 60 to 70 bin bags and is our most hired size for a kitchen refit. An 8 yard skip holds 70 to 80 bin bags for a bigger renovation or a full garden and garage clearance together.
Gorseinon is in the City and County of Swansea, so any skip placed on the public road needs a permit from Swansea Council. Each permit is valid for 28 days and costs £58, the application must go in at least 24 hours before the skip is placed, and the council requires public liability insurance of at least £5 million from the operator. A skip on your own drive needs no permit at all, which is why the semis in Penyrheol and the driveways at Cwrt Y Brenin are usually the easiest places for a skip to go.
On the older terraced streets near the town centre, where parking is on the road and the front is short, a skip is rarely the right tool. We will tell you when a skip bag or a man and van visit will serve you better and cost less.
Our man and van service is priced by the load and every figure includes VAT and the labour. A single item such as a small sofa or appliance is £40. A mattress on its own is £25 and a fridge on its own is £40. Loads then run from a 2 yard load at £50, about a 4x4 boot full, through a 6 yard load at £110 and an 8 yard load at £130, up to a 14 yard load at £220 for a small house or flat clearance. We carry from inside the house, the loft, the garage or the garden.
Swansea Council's bulky waste collection is the comparison most Gorseinon households make. The council charges £24 for one to three items and £48 for four to six items, six being the maximum per booking. It must be booked and paid in advance, items go to the kerb between 7pm the night before and 7am on the day, crews cannot enter the house or garden, and rubble, tyres, asbestos, hazardous chemicals and business waste are excluded. Residents on certain income-related benefits can get up to three collections of up to three items at half price in a year.
For a small number of standard items that you can get to the kerb, and where a council date suits, that service is worth using. For a full clearance, a mix of items the council will not take, or anything you cannot lift out yourself, we are the private alternative: any number of items, priced per load, and collected within 48 hours where we can.
A skip bag is the option for a drive that is too short for a skip or a job that is too big for a couple of van trips. We deliver the bag, you fill it in your own time, and we collect it when you call. A small bag is £65 inc VAT and a medium bag is £95 inc VAT, collection included, and no permit is needed because it never goes on the road.
In Gorseinon that means the new-build plots at Cwrt Y Brenin on Swansea Road and Garden Village, where turf, hardcore, packaging, fence off-cuts and patio waste pile up during the first year, and the terraced streets around the centre where the front garden has room for a bag but nothing more. It also suits the flats and smaller semis in Penyrheol when a loft or garage is being emptied a few boxes at a time.
Gorseinon has a council recycling centre on its doorstep. Garngoch Recycling Centre is on Phoenix Way, Garngoch Industrial Estate SA4 9WF, open seven days a week from 8.30am to 5pm, for Swansea residents only, with proof of address requested at times. For a car boot of sorted waste it is the obvious first choice and we would not pretend otherwise.
The catch is vehicles. Swansea Council's free van and trailer permit scheme allows 12 visits a year and needs the V5, proof of address and photo identification, and those permits are only valid at Llansamlet and Clyne, not at Garngoch. Anyone arriving in a van, a sign-written vehicle or with a trailer is sent to Llansamlet on Ferryboat Close, Swansea Enterprise Park SA6 8QN, where a 15 minute slot must be booked in advance. Swansea's other centres are Clyne, Penlan and Tir John.
So if you have hired a van for the day, or the job is a whole loft, garage or house rather than a boot load, the tip run stops being simple. We bring the van, load it ourselves and take everything in one visit, with a waste transfer note for your records.
Gorseinon is growing. The Garden Village strategic development between Gorseinon and Penllergaer is planned for up to 750 homes, with Swansea Council buying 141 of them as affordable housing, and it is reached from Llys Pentre on the Penllergaer side and Cwrt Y Brenin on the Gorseinon side. Persimmon's Cwrt Y Brenin on Swansea Road SA4 4HY is already occupied, and proposals for up to 400 homes on the former 3M factory site off Gorseinon Road would add another estate.
New estates make a particular kind of waste. Moving-in cardboard and packaging, builder's off-cuts left in the garage, the old fence when a proper one goes in, turf and topsoil from a garden being laid, and the first kitchen or bathroom upgrade a few years on. A 4 or 6 yard skip on the drive handles the big landscaping jobs, a skip bag suits a weekend patio, and the man and van clears the packaging and flat-pack cast-offs in a single trip.
As Gorseinon's older industries closed, including the 3M factory, the town's employment moved to Garngoch Industrial Estate on Phoenix Way and Kestrel Way, Gorseinon Business Park and Kingsbridge Business Park, with new council-backed small business units alongside long-standing engineering and manufacturing tenants. The High Street and Cowell Street keep a full run of independent takeaways, bakers, estate agents, solicitors and taxi firms, Gorseinon Retail Park SA4 4DJ carries the national chains, and Gower College Swansea's Gorseinon campus is a major further-education site.
