We provide man and van rubbish removal from £25 inc VAT, house and garden clearance, skip bags and skip hire across Mumbles and the SA3 postcode, about 22 minutes along Fabian Way and Mumbles Road from our yard at Jersey Marine. Vale Waste Neath is a registered waste carrier with Natural Resources Wales, and we aim to collect within 48 hours of booking.
Mumbles is the south-east corner of the City and County of Swansea, where the bay road ends and the Gower begins, and Swansea Council is its waste authority. We cover the whole SA3 district: Oystermouth and the streets behind Newton Road, the seafront along Mumbles Road, Thistleboon and Limeslade above the pier, Langland and its lanes, Newton and Norton, and West Cross, Mayals and Blackpill on the way in from the city.
Man and van rubbish removal is the service most Mumbles customers need, from £25 inc VAT for a single mattress up to a full house clearance, with our crew carrying from inside the property. Skip bags suit the narrow streets of the conservation area. We deliver 4, 6 and 8 yard skips where there is a drive to put them on, and we supply wheelie bins to the cafes, pubs and shops along Mumbles Road and Newton Road.

We hire 4, 6 and 8 yard skips in Mumbles. The 4 yard skip holds roughly 40 to 50 bin bags and is the mini skip people ask for when a kitchen in Newton or a garden in West Cross is being redone. The 6 yard skip takes 60 to 70 bin bags and is our most hired size for bathroom and kitchen refits. The 8 yard skip holds 70 to 80 bin bags for bigger renovations. Skips are quoted with delivery, collection and disposal included.
A skip on your own drive needs no permit, and the post-war semis of West Cross and Newton and the larger detached homes of Langland and Mayals usually have room. A skip on the public road or pavement needs a permit from Swansea Council, currently £58 for 28 days, applied for at least 24 hours before placement with £5 million public liability insurance. In the Victorian streets around Oystermouth, where parking is already tight, that permit is often needed, and we advise on cost and timing when we confirm your hire.
The steep, narrow lanes of Langland and Limeslade are not always somewhere a skip lorry can turn. Where that is the case we will tell you honestly and offer a skip bag or a van collection instead. Plasterboard must be kept separate from a mixed skip, and sofas and armchairs travel by van rather than in the skip.
Every price on our load ladder includes VAT. A single item is £40, two items are £50, a mattress on its own is £25 and a fridge on its own is £40. Volume loads start at a 2 yard load for £50, about 20 bin bags, and rise through the 6 yard load at £110 to a 14 yard load at £220, which is a small house or flat clearance. If the load is smaller on the day, you pay the smaller figure.
Swansea Council's bulky waste collection charges £24 for 1 to 3 items or £48 for 4 to 6 items, booked and paid in advance, with the items left at the kerbside on your usual collection day. It does not cover DIY and building waste, bathroom suites, kitchen units or garden waste, and the crews do not enter the property. Our man with a van service is built around those gaps: we carry from upstairs flats on Mumbles Road and Overland Road, from the back gardens of Newton and from the big detached houses of Langland, and we take mixed loads in a single visit.
Two of us lift and load, so there is nothing for you to carry to the pavement. We separate furniture in good condition for reuse where we can, and the rest goes to licensed disposal facilities with a waste transfer note for your records.
Mumbles is a conservation area, and its terraces behind Newton Road, the seafront streets and Village Lane were laid out long before cars. The council's own appraisal notes the lack of parking and the limited delivery access to some shops. That is exactly where a skip bag, sometimes called a Hippo bag (a trademark), earns its keep: it sits on a front yard, a small drive or a patch of lane with no permit, and we collect it once it is full.
Our small skip bag is £65 inc VAT for a small declutter or DIY project, roughly a single armchair in volume. The medium skip bag is £95 inc VAT and takes a small bathroom rip-out or a garage declutter. Both prices include delivery, collection and disposal.
Bags are also a good fit for holiday lets and flats between bookings, where a few pieces of furniture and a mattress need to go without a skip parked outside for a month. Keep plasterboard and upholstered seating out of the bag and tell us about those separately.
Swansea Council collects up to 3 black bags per household per fortnight in Mumbles, each under 15 kg, with side waste left uncollected. Garden waste goes in council reusable white bags, up to 10 per collection, on a seasonal fortnightly round. After a hedge cut in Newton or a house move in West Cross those limits are reached quickly.
The nearest household waste recycling centre is Clyne Household Waste Recycling Centre on Derwen Fawr Road, Sketty, SA2 8DU, roughly 2 miles from Newton Road. It is open 8.30am to 5pm seven days a week. Vans and trailers need a free residents' permit, limited to 12 visits in 12 months, and vans are only accepted at Clyne and Llansamlet. Check the council website for the current booking rules before you go. Swansea's other sites are Llansamlet, Garngoch, Penlan and Tir John.
A tip run is fine for a car boot of cuttings. It is a poor use of a Saturday when the load is a sofa, a mattress and six bags, or when you do not have a suitable vehicle. A collection from a registered waste carrier takes care of the lifting, the driving and the duty of care in one go.
Mumbles has an unusually high share of detached houses for Swansea, from the Victorian and Edwardian homes around Oystermouth and the seafront to the large properties of Langland, alongside post-war semis in West Cross and Newton and modern flats along Mumbles Road and Overland Road. That mix produces a steady run of full and part house clearances: downsizing moves, family homes being emptied for sale, and lofts, garages and cellars that have not been touched for decades.
The area also has a large number of holiday lets, many run by professional managers. Between seasons those properties need mattresses, sofas, white goods and tired furniture swapped out quickly, often with keys held by the manager and nobody on site. We work to that pattern: a photo quote, a fixed inc VAT price, a short stop, and a photograph of the cleared room when we leave.

The gardens of Newton, Mayals and Langland are bigger than most in Swansea, and the council's white bag round, fortnightly and capped at 10 bags, does not cope with a hedge line, a felled tree, a shed or a run of fence panels. Along Mumbles Road and Newton Road, from the cafes and ice cream parlours by Knab Rock to the pubs of the Mumbles Mile and the restaurants and shops at Oyster Wharf, businesses generate cardboard, glass and food waste with very little rear access. We supply 240, 660 and 1100 litre wheelie bins with scheduled collections timed around trading hours, and we clear refit and strip-out waste as a one-off job.

Mumbles is about 9.2 miles and around 22 minutes from our yard at Jersey Marine, along Fabian Way and then the A4067 Mumbles Road through Blackpill and West Cross to Oystermouth.
