We provide man and van rubbish removal from £25 inc VAT, skip hire and skip bags in Briton Ferry, our nearest town, just over the A48 bridge from our yard at Jersey Marine: 2.4 miles and about 4 minutes. We are a family-run, registered waste carrier with Natural Resources Wales.
Briton Ferry, Llansawel in Welsh, is the closest town to our yard. The Earlswood Estate at Jersey Marine sits at the junction of the A48 and the A483 Fabian Way, immediately west of the Briton Ferry Bridge over the River Neath, so a van leaving our gate is on Neath Road inside five minutes. With 5,878 residents and 2,724 households across the Briton Ferry East and Briton Ferry West wards, it is a small town, but its terraces, estates and industrial estate keep us busy most weeks.

Our 4 yard mini skip holds about 40 to 50 bin bags and suits a small garden or a single-room refit. The 6 yard midi skip holds 60 to 70 bin bags and is the size most people hire for a bathroom or kitchen strip-out. The 8 yard builders skip takes 70 to 80 bin bags for a bigger renovation or a full garage. The post-war estates at Cwrt Sart and Ynysymaerdy and the newer housing on the slopes generally have a drive; the Victorian terraces along Neath Road, Church Street and down towards Giants Grave usually do not, which is where a skip bag or a man and van collection is the easier answer.
Man and van prices include VAT, the loading and the disposal. A mattress alone is £25, a single item such as a sofa or a washing machine is £40, a fridge or fridge freezer is £40 and two items are £50. Loads then step from a 2 yard load at £50 through the most booked 6 yard load at £110 to a 14 yard load at £220, which clears a small house or flat. Two of us hand-load from the house, the yard or the lane, which is what the terraces of Briton Ferry need.
Neath Port Talbot Council offers a bulky items collection at £29.50 for up to seven items, booked and paid in advance, collected from the kerbside between 6am and 2pm with the items listed on the booking and put out the night before. It is not offered for house clearances or building waste, is for domestic residents only, and it will not take garden waste, sheds, fence panels, rubble, windows, doors, baths, toilets, paint tins, pallets or trade waste. If your job is a few pieces of furniture and you can wait for a slot, the council is a fair option; for anything else, or anything from inside the house, ring us. A man with a van is what most people call it, and for the small loads that is what we send.
A skip bag, sometimes called a Hippo bag (a trademark), is a heavy woven bag we deliver flat, you fill in your own time, and we collect with the van. The small bag is £65 inc VAT and the medium £95 inc VAT, both with collection and disposal included. No permit is needed because the bag stays on your own property, and a filled bag fits a front garden, a short drive or the yard behind a terrace.
Briton Ferry's older housing is mostly late-19th-century two-storey terracing built for the dock, tinplate and railway workers, with the riverside streets at Giants Grave and the rows off Neath Road and Church Street typical of it. On those streets a skip means a £59 permit and a lost parking space, so a bag on the yard or the front garden is the sensible choice. Being four minutes away, we can drop a bag on the way past and collect it the moment you tell us it is full.
Briton Ferry has the household waste recycling centre on its doorstep: Briton Ferry Recycling Centre, Briton Ferry Industrial Estate, SA11 2HZ. It opens 8.30am to 5pm seven days a week, closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day, and booking is mandatory: you must reserve a slot before you go. Vans, pick-ups and double-axle trailers need a permit, issued automatically when you book, with a maximum of 12 permits per household per year from 1 April to 31 March. Single-axle trailers need no permit. Tipper and flatbed vans and large 7.5 tonne vans are not allowed on site, and trade waste is not accepted.
Households can tip up to three sacks of building-type waste a week for free. Beyond that the weighbridge charges by the tonne, with rates from April 2025 of £24.68 a tonne for rubble or soil and £141.17 a tonne for plasterboard, payable by card only; tyres are not accepted. There is a reuse shop on site that needs no booking. The council also restricts excess black-bag waste beside the wheelie bin and does not collect side waste; check the council website for the current allowance.
For Briton Ferry residents with a car and a small load, the tip run is a short one and we would say so. A collection from us beats it when you have no van, when the load would use up your permits, when it includes a bathroom suite or a shed the council will not take at the kerb, or when it is trade waste from a Brunel Way unit that the site will not accept.
The A48 Briton Ferry Bridge opened in 1955 and carries the road from our estate straight over the River Neath to the Briton Ferry roundabout and the A474 Neath Road. The yard is one junction west of the bridge and both junction 41 at Baglan and junction 42 at Earlswood serve the town, so we reach Giants Grave, Cwrt Sart and Ynysymaerdy faster than we reach most of Neath. If a job in Briton Ferry needs a second look before we quote, we can call in on the way past rather than making a special trip.
The town's landmarks are useful reference points when you tell us where you are: Briton Ferry station on the Swansea to Neath line, St Mary's Church, the community library on Neath Road, the Brunel Dock and the listed Brunel Tower on the regenerated waterfront. Briton Ferry East has a notable share of privately rented homes, which means landlord and letting-agent turnarounds, end-of-tenancy clearances and bulky furniture collections are a regular part of our week here.
Briton Ferry Industrial Estate and the Baglan Energy Park frontage on Brunel Way and Central Avenue hold the town's larger employers and Neath Port Talbot Council's own headquarters at The Quays, SA11 2GG. Units there book one-off clearances, strip-outs and scheduled 240, 660 or 1100 litre wheelie bins from us, and because the recycling centre will not take trade waste at all, a registered carrier is the only lawful route for most of it.
Neath Road is the town's high street, a mixed run of bakeries, a chemist, barbers, takeaways and pubs. Those traders book cardboard collections, shop refits and small commercial bins on a day that suits their opening hours. Every commercial job comes with duty of care paperwork and a waste transfer note.

No. Vale Waste Neath is a private, family-run waste carrier registered with Natural Resources Wales, and although the council's headquarters and its recycling centre are both in Briton Ferry, we are not part of Neath Port Talbot Council.
